I’m a teacher, historian, and writer based in the Pacific Northwest. I currently serve as an instructor at Saint Martin’s University, a Benedictine liberal arts school in the South Puget Sound. I teach courses in U.S. history and in thematic areas such as STEM history and history of capitalism.

I previously taught or tutored at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Texas at Austin. I also served as assistant editor at the journal of the Washington Library Association and graduate fellow at the Collegium Institute. In my first career, I was an archivist and museum specialist. My work supported the missions of McKissick Museum, Moving Image Research Collections, the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library, and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

My own publications have appeared in Arcadia, Notches, the U.S. Intellectual History Blog, and Genealogies of Modernity. I was longlisted for the VanderMey Nonfiction Prize at Ruminate magazine.
